Cincinnati's Best Car Show's

With numerous shows and cruise-ins going on throughout the tri-state area, it is hard to pin down one show as the best. A show that should not be missed by any car enthusiasts is the crème of the crop for show cars. There is not a finer example of moving art than the exquisite classics that drive and trailer in to Alt Park in Cincinnati. This Year marked the 32nd Annual Concours d’ Elegance. On Sunday June 14th over two hundred classics cars filled into Alt Park showcasing a time when cars were more than just transportation. The show continued throughout the outer gates as the enthusiasts brought out their own classics for the ride to the Concours d’ Elegance. Proceeds of the show were benefited to the Arthritis Foundation.

Porsches 2-0xford is another show which should not be missed. July 25th will mark the 5th Annual Porsches 2 Oxford show. In the quaint college town of Oxford Ohio, the Home of Miami University, Porsches come from all around once a year to celebrate this fine German Engineered Automobile. The downtown cobblestone streets are closed off for the Porsche owners to showcase their vehicles along the storefronts and around the square. The show is not regulated to any age group of cars; you can view a vintage Porsche speedster next to a brand new Porsche Cayenne. The show helps raise money for the American Cancer Society.
July 12th is for the fans of the small classic cars. The Cincinnati British Car Club hosts the 22nd Annual British Car celebration in William Hamblin Park in Fairfield Ohio. This year’s show will feature the 100th birthday of the Marquee Morgan. Don’t miss the chance to see these British Beauty’s along the rolling hills of Hamblin Park.
You have been on the bent grass and cobblestone, now it’s time to head to the fairgrounds and take a trip around the dirt track. The Pumpkin Run Nationals is a fall tradition for the hotrod enthusiasts throughout the Tri-State area, anyone who owns a hot rod, knows what the Pumpkin Run is. The Pumpkin Run Nationals is put on by the Fastiques Car club in Owensville Ohio at the Clermont County Fairgrounds on the first weekend of October every year.
Every Friday evening Lonnie and the Hoodlum Alley Boys put on a great show at the Milford Steak and Shake. The Friday evening cruise in seems to be getting bigger every week as the cars spread further throughout the lot. From Porsches to Packard’s, there is something at the Milford show for everyone.
From motorcycles to hot rods, you will never have a hard time finding a local show. Whenever you see a group of car or bike lovers gathered around enjoying the company of fellow enthusiasts, it’s usually for a good cause. At every event there is a great group of people, with big hearts supporting families in need. The next time you pass an event, stop in and enjoy the family friendly event, buy a raffle ticket, and have a great time. I’ll see you at the show.

2009 Cincinnati Auto Expo

Cincinnati Auto Expo February 19 - 22, 2009.

With five to six inches falling outside the window, you worry about your car making the dreaded drive to the workplace. You remember a time when you couldn’t wait to get behind the wheel of your shiny sedan with the new car smell. Now you just try not to rub against the side so you don’t get the salt on your clothes from the dreary Ohio winters.
Forget the snow, forget the cold winter for a few hours and make the drive to downtown Cincinnati to the Duke Energy Center and get a look at the new cars coming to the marketplace. Hart Productions brings the 2009 Cincinnati Auto Expo back to Cincinnati from February 19-22.
With the new car market struggling with sales in turn creates one of the best buying opportunities that you will probably see in your lifetime. Remember the feeling you got when you purchased your last new car. You couldn’t wait to get behind the wheel and put your favorite cd into the new stereo and enjoy live Springsteen while taking in that new car smell. Bring back the feeling again with better technology and more comfort and conveniences than you could imagine.
Have you had your eye on a new car but don’t want to deal with going to a showroom and dealing with a salesman? Come on down to the Duke Energy Center to a no pressure showroom of the newest cars and trucks and enjoy a relaxing time choosing your next dream car. Open the doors and jump behind the wheel of that new Hybrid sport ute you been wanting and picture yourself pulling into your garage with your brand new car.
From an entry level economical every day driver to a weekend warrior new Corvette, your imagination will run wild with your choice of new automobiles strategically placed throughout the expo. Gently pull open the door of a Mercedes and slide behind the wheel. The door quietly closes and it’s just you and your thoughts inside the Benz. You deserve this. You make a silent promise to yourself that you would never let a drip of coffee spill onto your console. You promise to never eat another granola bar on the drive to the office. The car will stay this clean at all times you keep telling yourself as you think about making this happen. You look through the window and your mind awakens from your luxurious journey. A new Porsche 911 catches your eye and in no time flat you’re out of the Mercedes and on the way to the Porsche display.
Mark your calendar for the weekend of February 19-22 and enjoy the newest offerings of new cars and trucks at the Duke Energy Center. I will see you there.

Cavalcade of Customs

49th Annual Cavalcade of Customs

The cold Ohio weather was no deterrent for the large turnout for the 49th Annual Cavalcade of Customs. The Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati provided the platform for the classics that sat on display for the hot rod enthusiasts. At three o’clock on Friday the 9th of January, the spectators waited patiently for the convention doors to open. Once open the bright paint and spotless chrome gleamed underneath the convention center lights. After entering and standing in amazement at the assortment of rods and rides, it was a hard choice on where to start. I made a mental note of the cars off to my left as to come back to before I leave.

I headed to the corner to my right to find a collection of cars that displayed no fancy paint jobs, no shiny chrome, and no dressing on the tires. Survivors Alley was the area for original classics that were not restored and untouched. By untouched I mean not even a wash for the show. One proud automobile owner expressed to me that he owned his coupe for 30 years and had recently bought new fenders to start the restoration process. After a slight twist of the arm from his friend he brought his beloved classic to the show as is. Off to the side sat chopped up coupes lowered to the ground and ready to tear the pavement off the arena floor.
NBC Studios proudly presented the past and the present Night Rider Cars.

You know you are at a world class show when the one and only Chip Foose has one of his creations on display. The aircraft inspired P-32 Street Fighter was one of the most unique cars at the show. With a long fighter plane nose and fighter plane exhaust pipes, the P-32 drew spectators around the display who looked at different angles in awe of Chip Foose’s creation.
If you like the custom creations and get an idea for you own project, you don’t have to look far for assistance. Vendors were placed throughout the show to sell merchandise and advertise their services. You don’t have to go to the East Coast to get a one of a kind ride. The greater Cincinnati has an array of professionals ready to turn your dream into a reality.
I f you were lucky enough to attend the show one name dominated the floor with an awesome display of automobiles. Spade Kreations is a Cincinnati shop that can turn your dull factory ride into a one of a kind show winner. Owner Rick Spade has a list of clients from Professional Football players to a UFC Champion Rich Franklin. For a look at past projects of Rick Spade visit www.spadecreations.com.
The most dreaded time of any show always comes to quickly, the cell phone rings and the wife asks when you are coming home. “I’m getting ready to leave now you say”. The phone hangs up and then an hour later the reminder ring starts. After losing the argument to the better half you concede and head home for a trip to your computer to search for the next show.
